TRE
VIGNE WINES
TRE
VIGNE vineyards
are located in Sicily, Italy which produces the Grillo
and Frappato
grapes.
The
Grillo grape produces a special wine that dates back 2500
years. This delicate distinctive wine is crisp
but full-bodied.
It has intense fruit with a delicious aroma and it has the weight
of a Chardonnay but the freshness of a Sauvignon Blanc.
This great wine is a fine accompaniment to seafood, fish and
light dishes and should be served chilled.
Michael
Lonsford writes about wine in the Houston Chronicle. "The
1999 Tre Vigne 'Grillo' rated a four star (* * * *), is a crisp, but full bodied white made
from Grillo, a native Sicilian grape variety. It has the weight of
a chardonay but the clean freshness of a sauvignon blanc. It
should be an excellent match with fish."
The Frappato is a smooth wine, light to medium
body and of natural refining, made from Frappato red grapes. It is
purely vinified and it is delicious with all cuts of meats as well as
wild game and should be served slightly chilled. The Frappato grape is
only found in Sicily. |
