TRAMBUSTI
WINES

Wines from the Trambusti Vineyards were founded in 1890.  They are on the fourth generation of wine makers located in Tuscany, just south of Florence in the heart of Chianti region.  Although it is an old house they use the most modern techniques for their wine making and presently export all around the world.  They specialize in CHIANTI’S, CHIANTI CLASSICO and CHIANTI RISERVA, BAROLO and DOLCETTO.

CHIANTI

Chianti is a term used for wines produced around the Chianti Province of Italy which is located in the center of Tuscany.  Chianti is produced in seven distinct sub zones, that cover a vast territory of central Tuscany.  It is a hilly area with altitudes varying between 250 and 600 meters.  (820-1968')  The climate is continental without excessive temperature changes.  The soil is mainly composed of sandstone and limestone.  Chianti embraces typologies of wine which are very different among themselves.  Chianti is made using four different types of grapes:  two red varieties, Sangiovese (70-90%) and Canaiolo (5-10%), and two white varities, Malvasia and Trebbiano (2-5%).  Since Chianti was elevated to be a DOCG in 1984, its production has sharply diminished and its quality has markedly improved.

The CHIANTI DOCG produced by TRAMBUSTI is an intense ruby red, harmonic dry, well-balanced wine made of 90% Sangiovese, 5% Canaiolo, and 5% Malvasia grapes.  It has a dry, velvety and rounded taste.  This wine can be served with grilled meats, roasts, pastas, baked dishes and hearty cheeses.  This wine should be served at room temperature.  To really appreciate this wine, allow it to breathe before serving.

In order to use the word RISERVA to describe CHIANTI, a winemaker must age and process their Chianti in a certain way that is regulated by the regional government of Tuscany.  This is the only way to earn the title "Riserva".

The CHIANTI RISERVA DOCG produced by TRAMBUSTI is an intense ruby red, harmonic dry, iris and violet bouquet, well-balanced wine made of mostly Sangiovese and a small percentage of Caniolo grapes.  It has a dry, velvety and rounded taste.  Serve with grilled meats, roasts, pastas, baked dishes and hearty cheeses.  This wine should be served at room temperature.  To really appreciate this wine, allow it to breathe before serving.

The  CHIANTI CLASSICO
DOCG produced by TRAMBUSTI originates in central Tuscany between the towns of Florence and Siena.  It includes the entire communes of Castellina, Gaiole, Greve and Radda in Chianti, and part of those of Barberino Val d'Elsa, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Poggibonsi, San Casciano and San Casciano and Tavarnelle Val di Pesa covering a total area of 70,000 (172,900).  Chianti Classico can be made exclusively from Sangiovese grapes.   The production code permits a ratio of 75-100%.  The grape mixture can also include three other varities, red Canaiolo (up to 10%), white malvasia and Trebbiano (up to 6%), as well as other grapes chosen from a selection stipluated in the production code (up to 15%).

The CHIANTI Classico  DOCG produced by TRAMBUSTI is an bright ruby red, medium bodied with a fruity aftertaste, made of 95% Sangiovese, 3% Canaiolo, 2% Trebbiano  grapes.  It has a dry, velvety and rounded taste.  Serve with grilled meats, roasts, pastas, baked dishes and hearty cheeses.  This wine should be served at room temperature.  To really appreciate this wine, allow it to breathe before serving.

The Villa il Mezzino BAROLO DOCG from Nebbiolo grapes come from the estate vineyards of d'Alba.  This Barolo has a rating of 92 per the Wine Expectator  and ranks 46th in the top 100 Barolo wines of 1999.  This ruby red wine becomes garnet red color with age.  It has a characteristic, intense, pleasant and enduring nose.  It is delicate and pure, with goregous balance.  Light in color, with medium (almost light) body.  It has attractive, sweet-tasting quality and appealing silkiness joined by lovely red berry , smoke and mineral notes.   It is aged for three years, two of which is in oak barrels.  After five years of aging, BAROLO becomes a RISERVA.  This excellent and distinctive wine should be served with red meat, bare game and truffle dishes.  To really appreciate this wine allow it to breathe before serving.
