MORE NEW VARIETALS for the “Senor sierra De Alicante” ARRIVED Now in Texas
Mid-State Wine & Liquors, LP now Imports and Distributes Senor Sierra Wines statewide
The Owner of Mid-State wine, Leon D. Sierra is now introducing more NEW varietals to his second Private label to Texas. Out of his 12 days in Spain, he traveled to the South of Spain and landed in the Alicante Region. This known south East Spanish region is near the Mediterranean Sea near the city of Valencia! The exclusive second Private label roared onto the U.S. wine scene this year when Mid-State decided to Import the wines and distribute them statewide. They were also entered the 2010 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo's International Wine Competition where the Tempranillo varietal received a SILVER medal.
The Senor Sierra new varietals are FINALLY HERE. The winery called Bocopa in Alicante, Spain specially made these wines per Leon D. Sierra’s specifications. The vineyards are surrounded by mountains and have constant amounts of sunshine. The smell and breeze of the Mediterranean Sea makes the location just enchanting. The name comes from the private label wines that Mid-state now offers. The word SIERRA means mountain ranges and the Senor was just a marketing idea by Leon D. Sierra. The label is contemporary but very elegant giving it a feel of the Spanish Guitar players. The winery produces six distinctive varietals: a Merseguera & Macabeo white blend, a Crianza (tempranillo) Cabernet Sauvignon, a Tempranillo, a Monastrel (Mouvedre), Monastrel (Mouvedre) in French Oak barrels, and a Garnacha (Grenache) and Syrah red blend.
The grapes are grown in great clay soil bathed with lots of sunshine by day and bright stars and cool dry air at night. The soil conditions and temperature variance make the fruit ripens slowly, giving the wines their signature body and distinct flavor. “This makes it an old world style wine with a new world fruit driven style, bringing with it sophistication, great balance and lingering fruit”, says Dallas Kirkpatrick, Manager of Mid-State Wine in Houston, Texas.
Mid-State Wine & liquors, LP is the importer and the state wide wholesaler that has collected over the last ten years an exclusive portfolio of small-batch handcrafted wines, beers and spirits. Owner Leon Sierra was a successful oilfield Electrical engineer and has personally selected with his experienced staff the company's products from sources in California, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Italy, New Zealand, Chile, Australia, Argentina, Mexico, Spain, Turkey and others to come.
"We're very selective in the wines we choose to represent and the Senor Sierra label wines are an ideal addition to our portfolio," said Justin Gasper, Manager of Mid-State. "The Senor Sierra wines complement a wide range of Texas foods—from spicy cuisine, Texas barbecue ribs and Sausage, Crawfish, Japanese Cuisine and juicy steaks to hearty pasta dishes and fresh seafood, making them a perfect match for wine drinkers across the state."
"Texans are known for living large and enjoying the finer things in life. That's why we're thrilled to make our wines available here and we're confident that Texans will appreciate the unique full flavor and aroma of our wines," said Sandra Beltran of Pro hotels.
The story behind Senor Sierra wines began 2005, when I visited the Spain, I was searching for wineries that practiced Organic farming. In my travels all over Spain, I finally met the winery called BOCOPA located in Alicante Spain. I did not bring the wines right away because we waited for the right vintages and correct varietals to bring to Texas. The 100% Certified Organic Senor Sierra wines finally came to life in 2010 and now we all can enjoy them with family and friends.
“We can now offer our customers in Texas the rare opportunity to enjoy a taste of Spain and memories of their Barcelona or Madrid memories. We also plan to distribute these wines nation wide because it is all about creating experiences, reliving them with family, friends and great wines are definitely a part of that tradition."
